Jenn has been teaching dance to a wide range of ages and abilities for almost a decade, and is currently on staff at Burnaby's Shadbolt Centre for the Arts. Past studios include Xba Dance Co, The School of Music and Dance, iDance and ArtSpace for Children. While living in Berlin she taught a series of "Movement and Musicality" workshops at Dock 11 with live music from Zane Barratt, and in 2014 the pair had the privilege of bringing this format to Garage Performing Arts Centre in Corfu, Greece. As of December 2016, Jenn is also a 200-hour certified Hatha yoga teacher and teaches periodically at the Robert Lee YMCA in downtown Vancouver.
Jenn's teaching is intuitive, musical and fuelled by a passion for fluid yet rigorous movement. Her classes for children are influenced by Laban and Bartenieff principles via the teachings of Donna Redlick, as well as Anne Green Gilbert's BrainDance. Kids can explore their movement potential in a fun, creative environment that prepares them for any dance genre they may choose in the future. Teens and adults can expect evocative music and a full body and brain workout. Jenn's classes draw from modern dance techniques such as Limon and Cunningham, as well as the contact improvisation teachings of Peter Bingham, the release-based style of Rob Kitsos and the comprehensive ballet principles taught to her by Heidi Zolti and Marla Eist. Having been a late starter herself, Jenn connects with adult beginners and strikes a balance between foundational technique and expressive, fulfilling movement.
