Jenn Edwards is a contemporary dance artist based in Toronto, Canada. Born and raised in Vancouver, she fell in love with movement through competitive figure skating. Jenn completed a BFA in contemporary dance from Simon Fraser University in 2010, and also studied contact improvisation on a scholarship at EDAM. From 2010-2012, she co-directed Triadic Dance Works, a collective that performed extensively in Vancouver as well as in Seattle and Berlin, and produced two full-length works. From 2013 to 2015, Edwards was based in Europe and toured with Vienna’s Flowmotion Dance Company through Germany, France, Switzerland, Spain, London, Turkey, The Middle East, India, Brazil and Mexico. Jenn has showcased her own choreography at Fusion Festival (Berlin), 12 Minutes Max (Vancouver and Seattle), Gold Saucer Studio, Vines Art Festival, To.Be.Announced and the Calgary and Winnipeg Fringe Festivals. Choreographic residencies include The Shadbolt Centre for the Arts, SFU Woodwards, Mascall Dance’s BLOOM series and Garage Performing Arts Centre (Corfu, Greece). For 2018 Jenn will be dancing in works by Karissa Fyrrar (Polynomials Dance), Jamee Valin (Valence Movement) and Patricia Alison (LastNameFirstName Productions) as well as returning to her figure skating roots to begin a creative process with Le Patin Libre in Montreal. Edwards also writes features for Dance international Magazine, and plays keyboards in a Toronto-based indie rock band called The Inanimates.
