Jenn Edwards is a contemporary dancer, choreographer and teacher who started her performative career with competitive figure skating and theatre. Born and raised in Vancouver, Canada, she earned a BFA in contemporary dance from Simon Fraser University in 2010. She also studied contact improvisation on a scholarship at EDAM (2010). With Philippa Myler and Jennifer Aoki she founded Triadic Dance Works, a collective that has performed extensively in Vancouver as well as in Seattle and Berlin, and produced two full-length works between 2011 and 2012. In 2013 Edwards relocated to Europe to join Vienna’s Flowmotion Dance Company and performed with them in Germany, France, Switzerland, Spain, London, Turkey, The Middle East, India, Brazil and Mexico. Jenn has showcased her own choreography at Fusion Festival (Berlin), 12 Minutes Max (Seattle), BLOOM (Mascall Dance), Garage Performing Arts Centre (Corfu, Greece) and in the streets busking with her musician partner Zane Barratt. She has also danced in works by Nela H. (Diskordanse), Kat Single-Dain (Dusty Flowerpot Cabaret), Natalie Gan (Hong Kong Exile), Carolyn Schmidt and Bianca Anne B. (Tauschfühlung, Austria), and has appeared in such short films as ‘Square Dance Story’ by Jason Karman and ‘Tunnel One’ by Darcy Van Poelgeest and Natasha Lutz. In 2015 Edwards returned to Vancouver and has since performed in works by Patricia Allison (Toronto) andThe Troika Collective(Vancouver Fringe Festival), as well as showing choreography at To.Be.Announced, The Parade of Lost Souls and Gold Saucer Studio. Jenn currently teaches creative dance and ballet at The Shadbolt Centre for the Arts.
